I just wanted to post something to let you guys know that Lenny's is not a dangerous place. Everyone there was extremely helpful and nice that night. They are like family to us and I didn't mean for this event to put them in a negative light. They have armed security and are now hiring police as well. It's a rad venue and I still plan on playing there whenever we have the chance. Please help spread the word that Lenny's is not sketch town. And be safe. The reason we got in trouble was because I was wasted and we parked on a shady street a few blocks away. Stick with friends. And hope your friends are as good as Lockett. :)

Bottom of the Hudson Bassist Killed in Crash

One of the bands we played with at the Caledonia Friday, Bottom of the Hudson, had a tragic van accident yesterday. Their Bass Player, Trevor was killed. Our thoughts and prayers are with this family, band, and friends.

From "It Covers the Hillside"

Cory Brown, owner of Absolutely Kosher (label home to BOTH) issued this statement:

"We are devastated by his loss and he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the band and their families. Thanks to everyone who has sent condolences and well-wishes.

We are currently accepting donations via Paypal (the address is both@absolutelykosher.com) on behalf of Trevor's family and for Greg's medical bills resulting from the accident. A benefit show is being discussed, but we're all still reeling from this tragedy. We will update our home page as news of Greg's condition and progress on further fundraisers comes in. Your generosity in this difficult time is appreciated.

Still can't sleep... so here are the Wet Dreams

I'm using box.net for this download at your suggestion, redux. you guys can let me know if this is better for you than fileden.

Insomnia Post: More Ephemera & Another New Song, "Stoned"

Found on the ground at the Marietta Square when I was 12. I have kept it since for no reason other than it appeals to me.

If I remember correctly, this show never actually happened.

Unused LP cover for either Deerhunter or Atlas Sound, I can't remember. I ended up using the background for the first black lips album cover.

This was our first show. Moses played bass with a pair of scissors.

Portrait I took of Cole from Black Lips way back when

Notown Xerox Machine Art Threat

Lockett's seventh grade yearbook photo, later used on the cover of the Fluorescent Grey EP

The Wet Dreams was a band I had with my friends Alix and Julie a long ass time ago. I played drums. Die Slaughterhaus is putting out a postmortem 7" of the stuff we did sometime soon. I'll post an MP3 here at some point.

When I Attempted to use the Alanis Morisette Lyric Generator on our first LP

Lastly, here is a song I recorded when I was staying at Karen's house for a week earlier this summer. She had girl's night out watching some basketball game so I stayed in and made this. She has an amazing electric piano that was a gift from K.K. Barrett of the Screamers. That is the source of the main sound, sampled and collaged. There is also some treated harp and feedback. The title is pretty self-explanatory.

New Atlas Sound "Song"

I made this pretty unlistenable creepy suicide meets joe meek type thing tonight. It kind of reminds me of Excepter. I want to try out this new way of sharing music with you guys. Someone suggested fileden. Aside from giving me a lot of ads and poker website pop-ups (yeah right, I only use full-tilt... username: bradford c please find me at a table and let me take your money) it seems like this might work... let me know if you think it (the filesharing site / format) sucks. I know the song sucks. And is weird. And creepy. I almost had a panic attack when I was making it.

More Ephemera

Last Night

We got a friendly homecoming suprise last night in Atlanta when Lockett and I got robbed at gunpoint after our show at Lenny's last night. We literally had just walked off the stage and I was pretty wasted. Lockett was trying to take care of me and get me home. He grabbed my guitar and my stuff and we walked to his car which was parked about a block away from Lenny's because it was so crowded. I heard a commotion behind us but like I said I was pretty out of it. I just opened the door to the car and collapsed in the passenger seat. Then I heard all this yelling and I hear this loud metallic banging on the window and look up and there is a gun in my face and a guy yelling "get the fuck out the car man" I stumbled out and see the other guy has Lockett with his arms spread on the roof of his car and is patting him down. Lockett was begging them to leave me alone. The guy put his gun up to my temple and said "give me EVERYTHING motherfucker I aint fucking with you" I just mumbled something and he put his hands in my pants and took everything I had. My cellphone, my wallet (empty except for credit / bank cards which kristin immidietly cancelled, and about 450 dollars in cash I had for my rent.) They also got all of Lockett's money. They even took my fucking Camel Ultralights and Orange Bic. All I can say is that I'm glad we are not dead. Or more specifically, I am REALLY glad they didn't hurt Lockett. He was just trying to help me get home and would not have even been there at that time otherwise.

Friday Night Video Fest: Benjamin Smoke

Here is the first installment of our Friday night Video night where we will post videos for you to watch. This week is concentrating on one of my heroes growing up. Benjamin Smoke was a radical queer punk rock musician from Atlanta. Benjamin died January 29, 1999 of AIDS. He was really someone I look up to.
